Vitamin D!

Published on by

While we all love the bright sunshine, we are warned daily to keep our interaction with the sun to a minimum and to use SPF protection to block the harmful rays. What we don’t realize is that without the sun we most likely may not be getting enough of the essential Vitamin D our body needs and what the importance of the vitamin is.

Vitamin D plays a very important role in our bodies. This vitamin is involved in regulating minerals in our bodies. Vitamin D also works in boosting your immune system, preventing autoimmune diseases and even preventing cancer. It helps to restore weak bones, and helps to heal psoriasis. So the bottom line is that it is a very essential vitamin our body needs to stay healthy and one that we can become deficient in easily. It is important to be aware of the amounts we get to maintain a healthy balance. You can obtain this important vitamin in other ways without sun damage but it’s up to you to reach out. Aside from supplements, there are skin care products specifically formulated to supply your skin with D. I suggest the Goldfaden Vitamin D Face Cream. We can stay safe by being aware and addressing the proper concerns we have. You can still blow the sun a quick kiss without losing some of the benefits it has to offer.

NUXE Body Delights

Published on by

Imagine fields of blooming flowers, the taste of coconut sorbet, and beautiful sunsets in the French province. That’s the vision that NUXE product development team had in mind when they created the new Body Delight Essentials line.

It’s impossible to resist the sweet and sugary scent of Body Delights. With hints of coconut, orange blossom, and wild vanilla, you’ll have a hard time getting out of the bath. The scent is scrumptious for summer, and layers beautifully with your favorite perfumes. Body Delights products have superb textures that are reminiscent of freshly made fondant, and all four products are made with almond and orange flower petals which offer smoothing, softening, and soothing benefits.

The Fondant Shower Gel makes us melt with pleasure. It’s formulated without soap, so it’s extremely gentle, and the coconut derived cleansing base transforms from gel to thick, sudsy foam in the shower (so it’s great to shave with, too)!

The Fondant Body Scrub offers botanical exfoliating with orange zest, lichee kernel, and walnut shell powder. This gentle formula offers efficient exfoliation that leaves the skin smooth, glowing, and flake-free.

The 24HR Moisturizing Body Lotion further pampers the skin with wheat, sweet almond, and sunflower oil to reduce dryness while absorbing instantly and never leaving any residue on the skin.

The Fondant Firming Cream provides firming and anti-aging benefits with a cocktail of natural ingredients. Brazilian mimosa extract and oat sugar give a lifting effect, rye and kigelia Africana strengthen the cutaneous mesh, and jasmine extract with vitamin E provide antioxidant protection. This delicious texture melts into the skin quickly providing thighs, belly, bust, and arms with the TLC they need.

The formulations are as natural as they get- with up to 94% of ingredients from natural origin! And as always, NUXE products are paraben free!

So tell us, which product are you lusting after? They all sound remarkable, so try all four! And remember to friend us on Facebook; you’ll have a chance to win a few of these beautiful NUXE products in a fabulous giveaway!

Quick Moisture for Dehydrated Skin

Published on by

Dehydration is a condition that can affect all skin types. There are both external and internal factors that can lead to dehydration. Common causes are change in climate, pollution, hormonal changes, being on a first name basis with your local baristas…just to name a few.

If you are battling with dehydration, one factor to consider is your current skin care regimen. Are you using the right products for your skin? For example, if you only experience the occasional breakout here and there but you are using an acne cleanser, it may be too aggressive for you and could be stripping too much of your skin’s natural oils. Try switching to a mild cleanser and using a spot treatment instead.

One way to add additional moisture back into your skin is to incorporate a hydrating serum into your current routine.

My personal favorite is the H2O Plus Oasis 24 Hydrating Booster. This oil-free formula absorbs easily into your skin without leaving a heavy or greasy feeling. The Hydrating Booster has time-released moisture to help maintain hydration throughout the day. One quick tip; the product does need to be shaken prior to each use. Also, since I started using the Hydrating Booster I have found that I am using less of my moisturizer each day so I’m saving money!

Algae

Published on by

It’s likely that you’ve heard of seaweed wraps and algae treatments at luxurious spas and retreats. But algae isn’t just for celebrities anymore. There are a plethora of different algae-based products on the market that can be enjoyed by just about anybody.

Algaes are abundant in amino acids and minerals. There are different types of algae (red, blue, brown, green) that may provide different skin and health benefits. Algaes have been known to provide toning, detoxifying, re-mineralizing and moisturizing benefits. We offer many sea mineral and algae enriched products. Here are some favorites that we love:

Pevonia Nymphea Seaweed Exfoliating Soap, a summer-time favorite, an exfoliating soap to stimulate and help smooth cellulite accumulations.

H2O Plus Sea Results Deep Sleep Recovery Cream contains sea mineral complex which delivers kudzu root extract, marine-derived collagen, nutrient-rich phospholipids and firming marine algae to help promote long-term elasticity overnight.

Thalgo Marine Collagen Cream This cream helps to fight the first signs of aging while it helps to prolong the skin’s fresh and youthful glow!

Algae is great externally, but it’s also beneficial when taken internally. Maybe you’ve heard of (or even tasted) wakame salad at your favorite sushi restaurant. This delicious salad is simply yummy sea vegetable (seaweed) that’s seasoned with vinegar and garnished with sesame seeds. If you see it on a menu, I suggest that you try it! It’s healthy, nourishing, and tasty! It’s also great to take algae supplements internally if you can’t get your hands on a wakame salad. Iodalg Algae Capsules are a great choice to provide the body with detoxification, but make sure to speak to your doctor before starting any supplement regimen!

What’s your favorite Algae product? Are there any other sea ingredients that you like to use in your skincare & body regimen? Caviar extract is popular too! Share with us on Facebook  & Twitter!

Feeling a little down? You know that you can always count on Philosophy’s products and their quirky names and slogans to lift your spirits. My personal favorites from Philosophy’s broad product range are the Amazing Grace items. “In the end, it comes down to one word. Grace.” is the philosophy behind this best-selling range of fragranced goodies. I find that this statement rings true to many situations in our lives. We can relate to the philosophy of Philosophy, and that’s why we all really love the brand.

So what’s Philosophy’s next best and most-loved thing? The new Hope in a Tinted Moisturizer! A sheer, luscious tinted moisturizer that’s packed with antioxidants and SPF 20 to provide your skin with breathable coverage and a gorgeous glow that resonates with health and well-being. There are eight shades to choose from, so whether you’re very fair or very dark there’s a suitable color for your skin tone.

I especially love the Hope in a Tinted Moisturizer paired with Philosophy the Color of Grace Amazing Grace Shimmering Face Powder, a shimmering pale-pink powder that gives my skin a youthful lit-from-within glow. It’s perfect on the highpoints of the face like the cheekbones, chin, and bridge of the nose. It’s also very pretty on the décolleté and shoulders. What better way to feel uber-feminine than with a luscious fragrance, a bit of makeup, and a fun inspiring philosophy behind it.

Summer Skin Hydration

Published on by

Summer is here and we all want to keep our bodies soft and hydrated, but slathering on those thick body creams we use during the cold winter months can be too much. Not to mention when you start sweating later and end up feeling all greasy and sticky.

Try using lighter products like lotions, milks, or gel moisturizers. Look for lotions with Water, Aloe Vera, Jojoba, Almond Oil, Grape Seed Oil, Shea Butter, Vitamins A, C and E. Of course if you’re going to be out in the sun don’t forget the SPF, look for products with ingredients Titanium Dioxide and Zinc Oxide.

Here are some excellent options SkinStore offers to keep that healthy summer glow:

Tip: Using a body moisturizer daily can help prevent dry, ashy skin and drinking plenty of water can help prevent dehydration.

Your skin is your body’s largest organ, so take care of it!

Quick Tip: Say Goodbye to Dry Hands

Published on by

A huge pet peeve of mine is having dry hands, and it doesn’t seem to help that I’m constantly washing my hands or using hand sanitizer at work. No matter how much moisturizing hand cream I apply afterwards, it never seems to be hydrating enough.

So on the days it’s really bad, a little trick of mine is to use a moisturizing foot cream on my hands. These products are made extra emollient to penetrate into the thick skin on feet. AHAVA Dermud Enriched Intensive Foot Cream works fantabulously! The Dermud line is a bump up from the original AHAVA line, because it contains a higher amount of the Dead Sea mud to dramatically increase moisture levels in skin. I like to use it at night right before bedtime on my hands and feet. It’s a great hydrating treatment to do at least once a week.
