The warm sun and humidity are out to create a mess of our beautiful tresses again! Our hair becomes dry, brittle and the frizz factor is in full effect with the heat. Luckily, there is help to tame those hair baddies that summer brings our way.
To get a controlled style that enhances shine, tames unwanted frizz, and won’t weigh down voluminous hair, you can use a setting product. These kinds of products can be applied to hair while it is still damp or after you style to complete the look.
They can range from creams to oils and now even come in dry mists! Here are 3 progressive product suggestions to rock your hair care world!
Ampoules are underused skincare treatments in the industry. A lot of us have used them during a facial, but then forget about the lasting effects they can bring by using them at home. They can target our concerns, provide hydration, promote collagen, and help to restore our skin. Ampoules are stable, hygienic, and sealed until you are ready to use them.
Ampoules, or sometimes called fluids, can be beneficial for all skin types and concerns. They give our skin the necessary boost that it needs after traveling, post skin care procedure, during dry winters, or after a long hot summer. TheBabor skin care line carries fluids that help to boost collagen, calm and hydrate your skin, or provide your skin with essential vitamins and nutrients it needs to stay healthy. You can choose from their collagen booster, distressing fluid, or the multi active vitamin fluid.
Ampoules are also great for whitening teeth! Try GoSmile products and their whitening system ampoules. You can see a noticeable difference in the brightness of your teeth in a short amount of time with no trays or strips needed.
Ampoules are also used for hair to help restore, protect and keep healthy. If you hair needs a little attention and repair, try a hydrating oil treatment by Phytoto smooth out split ends and provide damage control.
The next time your beauty regimen needs a boost, reach for an ampoule to get you the results you are looking for!

Sound like I’m describing the condition of your hair? Well, let’s fix that! Dry hair is a common concern for many people, but thankfully it’s totally treatable.
First you’re going to need a good shampoo and conditioner. I recommend the Alterna Hemp with Organics Repair Shampoo and Conditioner. This is my go-to duo for over processed damaged hair. These products are the perfect combination of protein and moisture to strengthen the hair and protect it from any future damage.
Next you’re going to change your mind set of washing your hair everyday or even every other day. I’m talking washing your hair at the most 2 times per week. That’s right, you heard me- a max of twice a week, but don’t panic- this is where dry shampoo comes into play. A dry shampoo is going to become your new best friend. My personal favorite is Klorane Gentle Dry Shampoo with Oat Milk. Those with thinner textured hair and are looking for volume will want to go with Oscar Blandi Pronto Invisible Volumizing Dry Shampoo Spray. Use your dry shampoo when needed to absorb any excess oil and product build up. It will also provide your damaged locks with the proper nourishment it’s dying for.
Also you will want to find a good mask for your hair, which you’ll need to use once a week. There are a lot of good ones out there so this won’t be hard; so far my favorite has been the Alterna TEN Hair Masque.
Try to avoid any hair coloring or chemical processing for 4-8 weeks to fully let your locks rest and restore to their natural beauty.

Rise and shine beauties! Here are a few simple tricks to make you look your best at dawn.
1. Fake a faux glow- Add a few drops of self tanner into your night cream and wake up with a healthy glowing complexion. No harmful sunrays or tanning beds required.
2. Contour facial features- Dr. Perricone, one of the nation’s leading skin gurus suggests cutting carbs from dinner to avoid puffy features in the morning. He recommends a meal rich in lean protein and vegetables like salmon and asparagus. “When our diet’s high in glycemic carbohydrates, our features take on a soft, doughy appearance,” says dermatologist Nicholas Perricone.
3. Shiny, happy hair- Apply a moisturizing hair mask to parched locks before bed and rinse out in the morning. Your hair will thank you! We love Alterna Caviar Overnight Hair Rescue.
4. The early bird catches the worm- Get a jump start to your nightly routine. If you wash your face a couple of hours before bedtime you’re kicking the habit of being “too tired” to wash your face before bed. A skin sin that I am guilty of clogs pores with toxins, makeup and dirt all night long. Instead of taking advantage of prime skin regenerating time you’re self sabotaging your skin!
5. Frizz be gone- Simply swap out your flannel or cotton pillowcase with a satin one. Hair will be silky smooth with little effort. Less friction equals fewer frizzies.
Personally when it comes to hair I stand firm by the statement “Bigger is better.” Thick, voluptuous hair can show youthfulness and vitality, and in Snookies case… a lot of personality! Teasing your hair to the high heavens day in and day out can be very damaging. Setting up a system of products that help to thicken up the hair follicle and provide protection will ensure natural volume.
There are a gazillion hair products, hair tools, and hair styles that we lust after as magazine-toting, Extra-watching, celeb-envying consumers that we are.
But in 2011 we want you to put down that mag, step away from the TV and instead of envying Jennifer’s, Taylor’s, Sandra’s or whoever else’s hair type and style… envy your own!
Pamper your hair with a once weekly conditioning treatment. Melvita Capiforce Hair Mask is a great choice. Its rich, buttery texture “melts” into hair quickly delivering nourishment and hydration to thirsty strands.
Try heat-less hairstyles and embrace the natural texture of your hair. Heat from your blow-dryer, flat iron and curler damage your hair. Reduce use of heat to keep your hair at its optimum.
If you use heat tools then use a thermal protectant! Try ALTERNA BAMBOO Smooth Kendi Oil Dry Mist, a weightless, nutrient rich mist that combines strengthening, pure Organic Bamboo with smoothing, Organic Kendi Oil to eliminate frizz, protect hair from heat styling tools, enhance shine & protect color while boosting your hair’s health.
Get a regular trim every 6-8 weeks to keep your hair looking fresh. Split ends make your hair look frizzy and unhealthy. If you have bangs then get a bang trim every 4-6 weeks. The hair that frames your face (like bangs and side wispies) requires more attention because these are the essential pieces that pull your entire look together.
And as always, make sure to take your multi-vitamins and essential fatty acids to maintain hair health. Your body doesn’t produce some amino acids and EFA’s that are essential for hair (and skin) beauty, therefore you’ll need to get them from other sources like supplements and of course, a well-balanced diet.
We hope that you (and your hair) have a beautiful year! If you have hair care and hair style tips, please share with us in the comments below, on facebook or on twitter!

We’re sure that you endlessly hear about the importance of exfoliation. Your skin looks and feels better when it’s free of dead skin cells, residue and pore-clogging debris. We’re also sure that you know all about alpha hydroxyl acids and beta hydroxyl acids and enzymes and manual exfoliants, like scrubs. But… do you know about exfoliating your hair? Yes… hair! Dead skin cells, product residue, minerals from hard water and other pollutants build up in your hair, dull the shine, and make your hair brittle and more susceptible to breakage. No good!
Thank goodness that there are amazing products that you can use to ensure shiny, bouncy, healthy hair! So, here’s a simple and easy guide on keeping your scalp clear of baddies.
Begin with a clarifying scalp treatment. We’re obsessed with Rene Furterer Complexe 5 Regenerating Plant Extract. Its unique concentration of over 50% orange and lavender essential oils stimulates microcirculation and invigorates the scalp to enhance the growth of healthy, beautiful hair, while providing a deep cleanse. Use a clarifying scalp treatment once every one to two weeks to maintain a clear scalp.
Eliminate rubbish with a shampoo. Phyto Phytosylic is a twice-a-week shampoo for all types of hair that effectively eliminates flaking and treats dandruff problems. Its gentle formulation combines the benefits of essential oils with willow bark extract enriched with salicylic acid. Use Phytosylic on alternate days to Rene Furterer Complexe 5, or use this shampoo instead of the treatment if you’re a busy bee and can’t commit the time to Rene Furterer Complexe 5.
Once your hair is purified and clear of all the bad stuff, deposit some good stuff! Your freshly exfoliated scalp will drink up hair-growth boosting treatments! Try Phyto Phytoaxil Fortifying Treatment; Phytoaxil is exclusively formulated with natural active principles and is proven to help hair growth!
What are some of your favorite hair and scalp-purifying treatments? Maybe a trusty home-made remedy? We’d love to know!
