CosMedix Purity Clean Exfoliating Cleanser

Published on by

Feel like you’ve had a facial with Purity Clean Cleanser from CosMedix. The line’s best seller gently exfoliates and leaves you with instantly smoother skin.  CosMedix boasts that all their products are chirally corrected, which means that they have balanced their active ingredients to be the safest and gentlest they possibly can be.

This liquid cleanser packs a punch. Perfect for combination, oily, and acne-prone skin, tea tree oil has natural antibacterial and antiseptic qualities to help heal blemishes.  It contains L-lactic and Salicylic acids so you will want to make sure you have a good SPF on during the day as sun exposure can accelerate the effects of acids.  CosMedix offers Hydrate+ SPF 17 Moisturizer.  It complements the cleanser by soothing the tingly feel you may experience when cleansing your face and neck.

But don’t just take our word for it; check out the customer reviews. One reviewer writes:  “It has a fresh minty fragrance and literally makes my skin look as if I have had a facial.”  We couldn’t agree more!

Dr. Brandt Pores No More Pore Refiner

Published on by

One of our favorite doctor’s offers a product that we feel is a “must have.” Dr. Brandt’s Pores No More Pore Refiner is a 2-in-1 product that will minimize pores and tame that annoying shine that seems to appear on most of us, especially in the “t-zone” area.

Pores No More Pore Refiner uses microspheres which absorb oil on the skin. Shine is instantly mattified, and pores are hidden after a quick and easy application. It can be used as a primer before make up application or on its own.

Customer ratings speak for themselves! Celebrity plug: Dr. Brandt’s pores no more pore refiner is my secret to having close up ready skin. It shrinks the size of pores and refines the skin, it is brilliant!“- Gwyneth Paltrow

Top Kits at SkinStore

Have you ever spent hours trying to figure out which products would be best for you? You’re not alone! I always appreciate a kit or system that is put together by the manufacturer. It takes the guess work out of trying to figure out which products are going to be best for me. Kits usually contain several different products in smaller size jars or bottles and generally are always a great value!

I’m going to recommend some of our most popular kits at SkinStore, and depending on what your skin concerns are, you can choose accordingly!

For problematic/acne prone skin: iS Clinical Acne Travel Kit. Although this kit is made for “travel,” it’s still one of my favorites. I personally think the Active Serum is a miracle worker! This kit comes with a cleanser, two serums and a sunscreen! Oh, and we can’t forget about the travel case.

For aging skin that is blemish prone: M Lab Travel Collection for Anti-Aging Blemish Control. This kit offers products filled with peptides and antioxidants that will tackle fine lines and wrinkles as well as blemishes and excess oil.

For aging skin: M Lab Travel Collection for Anti-Aging. From the same manufacturer as the above recommendation, this kit contains products that will improve lines and wrinkles, eye puffiness, skin tone, and firmness! Bonus: SkinMedica also has a great duo kit that is a combination of two wrinkle reducing products. SkinMedica TNS Recover Complex best Results Kit – gives just that! Great results!

For normal to combination skin: Philosophy Great Skin is in For Normal to Combination Skin. This kit contains three products: a cleanser, a retinol night treatment and Oprah’s favorite- Hope in a Jar! If you tend to be oily in some areas of your face and dry in others, this kit would be a great option for you.

For sensitive skin: We have a great kit by Pevonia that is a 3 step kit containing a cleanser, a lotion, and a soothing skin cream. Ingredients are mild enough for your sensitive skin, and the soothing cream has healing properties to relieve your skin!

Keep in mind you can always mix and match products and brands. Build your own kit! Share with us: What’s your favorite kit and what makes it so fabulous?

Does My Oily Skin Really Need a Moisturizer?

Published on by

When I started my esthetics training we quickly learned the process to healthy skin! “Cleanse, tone, moisturize, protect!” Being a girl with acne-prone, oily skin, I didn’t want to add any sort of moisturizer to my skin. I sat down with an instructor one day to go over my regimen. She asked what moisturizer I used, and I said, “Oh! My skin is oily, so I don’t use one!” She looked at me like I was crazy! She explained to me why even oily skin needs a moisturizer, and now, dear friends, I will share that information with you.

You see, believe it or not oily skin can still be dehydrated, meaning it is lacking water, not oil. Dehydration in skin can lead to overactive sebaceous (oil) glands making the skin oily. Using an oil free moisturizer will balance out moisture levels, which will help keep oil production at bay.

It took a couple of months for me to even believe this enough to try it. I finally did, and wouldn’t ya know it! She knew what she was talking about!  If you still aren’t buying it, just give it a few weeks. Try an oil free moisturizer! La Roche Posay Effaclar Daily Mattifying Moisturizer is one of my favorites. I bet you’ll notice the difference!

Juara Rose & Willowbark Blemish-Free Mask

Published on by

The Rose & Willowbark Blemish-Free Mask is the newest mask by the amazing line, Juara. Juara skin care focuses on using natural ingredients that have been used for centuries but in a new and innovative way. The new Rose & Willowbark Blemish-Free Mask contains powerful and soothing ingredients making it a wonderful addition to the Juara line. For anyone that has battled acne or blemish prone skin, the new Rose and Willowbark Mask is a great solution.

The active botanicals in the mask include White Willowbark, Red Sandalwood, Rice Protein, Kaolin Clay, and Rose Water. White Willowbark has been used for centuries as a natural remedy to help with clogged pores. It is rich in Vitamin C, B, E, and salicylic acid which will help to clear out pores the natural way and help to reduce breakouts and prevent any new blemishes from developing. The red sandalwood in this mask will help to calm and cool the skin while the rose water acts as a natural anti-septic and will help to reduce redness. Since the rose and willlowbark blemish-free mask also contains Kaolin Clay it will draw out dirt and impurities from the skin making pores less visible.

You can use this mask 1-3 times per week depending on how often you experience breakouts. You can also use this mask as a spot treatment and leave on for 30 minutes, or you can leave it on overnight. Since this mask uses active botanicals you may notice a slight tingling at first but this will dissipate as your skin adjusts. Because the ingredients and formulation are so pure, even sensitive skin types and break-out prone skin can use this mask.

How to Pop a Pimple

Published on by

They always say that you should never, ever pop a pimple. But most folks have that ‘picking syndrome’ where they won’t pass a mirror without squeezing what should be left alone (ahem, guilty as charged…).

If you absolutely MUST extract an icky pimple then do it right! You’ll want to make sure that you don’t spread the bacteria, and you’ll also want to make sure that you are being gentle on your skin.

First, wash your face with a mild cleanser to rid of dirt and residue. Next, apply a warm washcloth to the area where you’ll perform the extraction. The heat from the washcloth will open the pores and soften the skin. Then grab two tissues and wrap them around your index fingers. Apply gentle pressure from opposite sides of the pimple, and don’t squeeze too hard. If nothing is coming out, leave it alone for another day or two, and apply a spot treatment on the area instead. If you’re successful in performing the extraction toss those tissues and apply a cotton ball soaked in hydrogen peroxide to the area, it’s important to rid of the bacteria to assure you won’t be spreading infection to other parts of your face. Lastly, apply a tiny bit of Neosporin with cotton swab to the spot; this will facilitate quicker healing time and anti-inflammatory benefits.

To prevent new pimples from popping up use an anti-acne cleanser and moisturizer as part of your daily regimen. The M2 Skin Technologies line is a great choice, as it has mandelic and malic acids to exfoliate and keep the skin clear.
