Skin is subject to many influences, both internal and external. Behavioral Aging is the impact of lifestyle and environment on your skin. It can defy genetic factors and resist some of the most powerful anti-aging treatments. Your skin is up against lifestyle choices that cause damage in ways you may not realize:
Stress and lack of sleep: side effects include overstressed skin marked by sagging and lack of firmness
Environmental pollution: side effects include polluted skin marked by dull, yellowing complexion
Unbalanced diet: side effects include imbalanced skin marked by large pores, oiliness and shine
UV rays: side effects include uneven skin tone marked by dark spots, fine lines and loss of firmness
With its many years of expertise, Vichy research has discovered new and effective ways of looking after the health of your skin. To combat behavioral aging Vichy has introduced the Idéalia Life Serum and Idealia Eye.
Vichy surveyed 2,600 women and asked them what was standing between them and ideal skin– they responded:
Skin texture (smooth skin, free from bumps and pores) 34%
Skin tone (radiant skin, free from dark spots & pigmentation) 25%
Vichy Idéalia Life Serum helps with the skin quality parameters that matter most to women. Take the challenge and let us know how Vichy Idéalia Life Serum worked for you and addressing these parameters. It’s not a free pass, but it’s a second chance to transform your skin quality in 8 days. Use Idéalia Life Serum twice daily for 8 days, and experience a visible skin transformation.

There are certain ingredient staples everyone should have in their daily care regimen to maintain a healthy complexion. Two of the most important are vitamin C and vitamin E; potent antioxidants, they both help minimize the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles while promoting an even skin tone. When used together in a formulation, vitamins C and E take part in a synergistic relationship that provides even more health benefits to the skin than using each alone.
UV-exposure causes free radicals to be produced, which in turn attack cells’ lipid membranes, trying to get to the DNA where cell damage and mutations can occur. Since vitamin E (tocopherol) is lipid-soluble, it has the ability to neutralize these free radicals before any damage to the skin cells takes place. Through this neutralization process, however, the vitamin E becomes a free radical, requiring the water-soluble vitamin C (L-ascorbic acid) to react with the vitamin E, turning it into a stable molecule once more.
Because equal amounts of vitamin C are used to neutralize the unstable vitamin E, the most effective formulations will have lower percentages of vitamin E and higher percentages of vitamin C.
Skincare line PCA SKIN® has just launched two new breakthrough products containing maximum amounts of pure 5% vitamin E (tocopherol) that boast dramatic, visible results in as little as one week of daily use. C&E Strength and C&E Strength Max contain 15% and 20% vitamin C, respectively, along with pure 5% vitamin E, offering rapid, visible results within one to five weeks of daily use.
Melasma, otherwise known as pregnancy mask, is one of the most common forms of hyperpigmentation. Women who are pregnant, nursing or even using hormonal therapy run a risk of developing this issue. While this “mask” occurs due to a hormonal imbalance, sun exposure may worsen the condition. Women who have already suffered from sun damage may experience more severe pigmentation. The pigmentation generally affects the forehead, lips, chin and cheeks giving it the name “mask”. It is estimated that about 70% of all pregnant women have some form of melasma during pregnancy. (It also can occur in men, but very rarely).
Most people affected by melasma are advised to avoid prolonged sun exposure and use sunscreen throughout the day, we suggest Belli Pure Radiance Facial Sunscreen. Exfoliating the skin can be beneficial to removing the darkened skin cells, we recommend the Belli Fresh Start Pre-Treatment Scrub which is specially formulated to be gentle enough for pregnant woman. Belli offers a wide range of products for women who are pregnant, nursing or plan on becoming pregnant.
Helpful tips to clear skin: Remember to never pick at pimples and avoid touching your face throughout the day. If you notice you’re always breaking out on your cheeks your pillowcase or makeup brushes may be the culprit. Make sure you wash your pillowcase and makeup brushes regularly.

A retinol based product can be found in almost every beauty line available and it easy to see why. Retinol, or vitamin A, has the ability to increase collagen production. It can be used to treat a range of skin conditions from acne to visible signs of aging.
Retinol gently exfoliates the skin, removing dead skin from the surface and helping reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, scarring and dark spots. Retinol is a great addition to any skincare routine for many skin types but be aware you should allow 4-6 weeks for results to show noticeable and lasting results.
As many consumers are aware, the largest downside of retinol products is increased photo sensitivity. Because the retinol acts as an exfoliant, it exposes skin to environmental elements. It is proven that retinol does increases risk of sunburn but not an increase in development of skin cancer. It is high recommended that consumers stop tanning in UVB tanning beds while using retinol products. Users who are cautious of sun exposure or know they may be exposed can mix their retinol products with an SPF product or restrict their usage primarily at night.
Typical side effects include redness and photosensitivity. Overuse of Retinoid can cause peeling, shedding or excess dryness so it suggested that users limit their use to 3 times a week until the symptoms subside. Stop using retinol based products if skin becomes irritated, itches or burns. Active ingredients like retinol or other acids can cause activity like a light tingling sensation but should never burn. This said vitamin A or retinol products are not recommended for pregnant women or clients with skin conditions like Eczema and/or Rosacea.

When you reach for your sunscreen, are you 100% certain you know what you are applying? Here are a few tidbits of knowledge to help you through the summer without getting burned.
Did you know that sunscreen loses its efficacy after 12 months? Ingredients that contain sun protection factors such as titanium dioxide and zinc oxide are active ingredients so they can’t be expected to last forever. They have a shelf life just like your peanut butter so be sure to purchase a new bottle every summer.
*Helpful tip: Mark your bottle of sunscreen with the date you bought it!
Did you know you should apply sunscreen (no matter then SPF) every TWO hours? Sunscreen does not block the sun entirely and although you may have slathered yourself with sunscreen, it is not meant to last you a whole day exposed to the Sun’s harmful rays.
*Helpful tip: If you out and about, set an alarm on your phone every two hours to remind you!
Are you covering all the necessary spots or just your nose? Ears, eyelids, the scalp, lips and feet are the most often forgotten body part when applying sunscreen. Be sure to cover these areas to protect yourself from sun damage and possible health concerns.
