The seasons are changing, and we’re happy to embrace the cooler weather and all of the wonderful things that come with it. Some of our favorite autumn classics include pumpkin spice lattes from Starbucks, cozy wool coats, and chilly football games. But our most favorite things about the new season are the new beauty products and trends, of course! Switching seasons also means switching skin care routines and incorporating products that will get us through the cold months ahead. Fall is also a great time to preview holiday gift ideas! Here are some of our newest SkinStore.com launches that are quickly becoming staff and customer favorites.
Clarisonic PLUS Skin Care System with Deep Pore Cleansing in Blue. While you may go into lazy hibernation mode this fall, you shouldn’t let your skin do the same. Your face and body are in need of deep cleansing and exfoliation, and Clarisonic makes it fun and easy. The PLUS system works wonders for the face and the body with its four speed settings, and the new Deep Pore Cleansing Brush Head gets those stubborn trouble areas clean and clear with the push of a button.
ARCONA White Ice will hydrate your skin through the icy cool weather to come, and because it’s now available in a jumbo size you won’t have to worry about running out too soon. This lightweight gel will moisturize deep within the dermis, won’t clog pores, but will protect your skin against environmental assault.
Even though it’ll be chilly out it doesn’t mean you have to hide your neck, your neck will get all of the tender loving care it deserves with StriVectin TL Neck Firming Cream so you’ll want to show off your new swan-like self. The TL Neck Firming Cream uses breakthrough niacin powered technology to visibly restore firmness, shape, and contour while providing an immediate tightening effect.
If you’re looking for a total regimen overhaul then look no further, because our newest addition is sure to be one of our best as Bioelements joins the SkinStore.com family. Since the early 90’s Bioelements products have been dominating the spa world with their innovative formulas that provide clinical-results. Founded by one of the first ever licensed estheticians the Bioelements brand brings innovative skincare technology and the spa experience straight to your home.
Cool weather doesn’t mean skipping sunscreen OR deodorant, so make sure to stock up on both, because getting a sunburn in the middle of fall is completely possible, and unfortunately smelling bad is too. We’re loving the new LaVanilla deodorants because they’re free of all the bad stuff like petrochemicals, phthalates, proplyne glycols, and synthetic dyes. They are chockfull of powerful antioxidants, essential oils, and soothing hydrators.
One of our worst things about cool weather is chapped, red, dry skin. We’re thankful for ATOAPLM! The original ATOPALM Intensive Moisturizing Cream has a cult following, and the new ATOPALM 130+ Concentrated Intensive Cream will surely be a hit. Enriched with olive oil, grape seed oil, and vitamin E, this parabens-free multi lamellar emulsion formula mimics the structure of the skin lipids, healing to restore the skin’s barrier function. It’s also great for rosacea, and for razor burn.
Dr.Perricone, a pioneer in the skincare industry is always coming up with the latest and greatest. Perricone MD Cold Plasma products were a hot hit during the summer time, and they’ll surely sell like hotcakes in the fall. In time for fall Perricone MD Cold Plasma had a growth spurt and is now available in a 2 oz super-size! The best thing is that it’s a $300 value for only $229!
Revaleskin is also taking their line to new heights with three new products. To rid of hyperpigmentation induced by too much fun in the sun, the Illuminesse Brightening Complex will help to lighten dark spots while brightening the skin with a potent coffeeberry complex. Revaleskin Skin Firming Serum helps increase resistance to stress and environmental aggressors. And the new RevaleSkin Elette 4% Creamy Wash rinses away dirt and residue while killing p.acne bacteria and zapping zits in a jiffy.

There are those with sensitive skin, and those with tolerant skin. There are those of us that can use 30% glycolic acid and experience a mild tingling sensation whereas some of us flare up when we come in contact with something as basic as glycerin. There are people who are even allergic to water. We consistently get questions from our customers in regards to allergies and products. We’ll always tell you that you must consult with your doctor, and unfortunately we can’t guarantee that you won’t have a reaction to any one product. However, we’re always happy to dish out whatever helpful advice we can. So what if you tried something that didn’t work so well, and now you’ve got hives, rashes, or irritation? There are a few steps you can take to lessen the irritation before you get to your doctor’s office.
Take an antihistamine. Prescription or over-the-counter allergy medicine help to sooth internal inflammation. Aspirin may also help, because it’s an anti-inflammatory. But make sure to get your doctor’s ok before taking anything internally.
Use a cold compress over the area of inflammation. Towels soaked in ice water or a bag of frozen peas work well. This allows for vasoconstriction, which in turns lessens redness.
Though it may be tempting, don’t use foundation or concealer. Many cosmetics contain ingredients that’ll further irritate the skin and exacerbate the reaction.
Apply a hydrocortisone cream to the affected area, as it’ll reduce topical swelling. If you’re sensitive to hydrocortisone try ATOPALM Intensive Moisturizing Cream, which promotes barrier repair and is super soothing.
Stay away from heat. Because heat prompts swelling it’s best to stay away from anything that triggers internal heat – like working out, sunbathing, or eating spicy foods.
Remember… if you’re having a severe allergic reaction, get yourself to the doctor!

I’ve always been that girl at the restaurant. The one that orders six things off the menu and eats them all with no regret, while my friends stick to Caesar salads and ask me how I’m still thin. After spending many years in professional ballet I’ve learned that maintaining a healthy weight wasn’t about measuring precise portion sizes, or eating apples for dinner, or refusing a piece of chocolate. It was about balance. A healthy balance in my eating habits meant a healthy weight, a healthy complexion, and it also meant that a well-managed six course meal wasn’t a big deal.
Eating at a restaurant is a special treat, but it doesn’t mean that we can’t make healthy yet indulgent choices while we’re there. Here are some of my favorite healthy balance restaurant dinner tips that ensure a happy waist line and glowing skin:
When eating at a restaurant always order a salad first. Something green and leafy with a wide variety of veggies will be your best choice. Veggies are fiber-rich and will fill you up while providing vital vitamins. Steer clear of heavy dressings and try olive oil and vinegar as your dressing instead.
Skip the bread basket for obvious reasons (carbs make the skin look dull and drab), and order another appetizer instead. Many restaurants serve shrimp cocktail, salmon spread (hello, Omega-3!), pate, or some other seafood or lean meat alternative which are all healthy protein choices that taste delicious and are nutritious.
Skip ice water (people are always baffled by this one). Cold water takes a long time to digest, because its temperature is way lower than what your body is naturally used to, so it can actually slow metabolism. Ask your waiter for water without ice, or choose sparkling mineral water instead, which aids in digestion.
Skip creamy sauces. Most people love pasta, and I’m no exception. Substitute a creamy sauce (they’re usually made with whipping cream) for a tomato or pesto, tomatoes are rich in skin-loving lycopene and pesto is made with nutritious spinach and omega-6 rich pine nuts. You can also ask for whole-wheat pasta instead of white pasta, and ask for additional vegetables, an extra side of mushrooms and asparagus never hurt.
At the end of your meal splurge on a dessert (it helps to split it with friends!). Because you’ve made so many other healthy choices during your meal it’s ok to satisfy your sweet tooth with a few bites of Tiramisu.

Those of us that have oily skin and are acne prone know just how hard it is to bring ourselves to moisturize. We’re fearful of using something that may make our skin feel oily, and many of us inadvertently think that a moisturizer will clog our pores and cause more acne. It’s true that many conventional facial moisturizers are just too heavy for us oily-skinned folks, and that’s why it’s always best to look for an oil-free moisturizer to add into our regimens. An oil-free moisturizer will deposit water into the skin to provide hydration, which in turn will signal for the sebaceous glands to slow down with the oil production. Well-hydrated skin will produce less oil and therefore fewer breakouts will occur. Look for an oil-free moisturizer that has added benefits, too. Our newest favorite is the NEW Dr.Dennis Gross Trifix Oil-Free Moisturizer, which is a treatment powerhouse and more! It’s a fast absorbing formula that targets clogged pores, blackheads, whiteheads, and major breakouts while soothing irritation and reducing inflammation. Aloe and bisabolol soothe and quench the skin while willow bark extract reduces redness and irritation associated with acne and acne treatments.
The warm weather means the living’s easy, you kick back and have a margarita with the girlfriends, a glass of wine with the husband, a beer or two at the neighborhood cookout. Before you know it, the pretty fresh-faced girl that you were in June is looking ten years older by August.
We wonder… how does alcohol affect the way we look? While we’re not here to preach and tell you that drinking is all bad business we do want to warn you that overindulging too frequently can make you look older.
Alcohol can cause wrinkles. It dehydrates the skin, delaying the production of collagen and in turn deepening lines.
Because alcohol dehydrates the body it also slows down cellular turnover, which means dull skin. By quenching your thirst with an ice cold beer you’re not quenching your body’s need for water, and lack of water means your skin looks even duller. Sugary drinks are a double-whammy, the sugar molecules in sweet beverages cause glycation, a process in which sugar attaches to proteins, causing brittle and weak collagen.
Alcohol makes the eyes and face puffy, too. It dilates blood vessels and causes redistribution of fluids, which is then most apparent around the eye area.
Alcohol disrupts a healthy diet. Nobody wants to eat spinach after a night of drinking, and that’s because the body is trying to bring itself into balance by craving greasier and saltier foods which balance out alcohol’s high acid content.
Let’s talk underarms. They’re the pits. They are pit-iful. They need a ton of TLC to stay looking smooth and healthy.
There are a few things you can do to prevent ingrown hairs, rashes, and tenderness when shaving your underarms. There are also a few tricks to getting a closer shave than ever before, and going longer between shaves, too!
Always shave in the shower or bath, when your skin is damp. Hot water softens the hair and the skin holds onto the hair less tightly when it’s damp. Never, ever dry shave, especially under your arms.
Always use shave cream or gel, and invest in a high quality razor. Your razor should have at least three blades and a moisture cushion around the blade. One-blade disposable razors shouldn’t have ever been made.
Because the hair under your arms grows in a circle type of shape rather than in one direction, it’s important to maneuver your blade to adjust to hair growth – always shave downwards first, then upwards, and then sideways if you have any strays. Don’t go over the area more than three times with your blade, and if you have any stubborn strays left remove them with tweezers post-shower.
Don’t apply deodorant or antiperspirant after shaving, let your skin rest overnight, or at least for a few hours. If you must use something then use a gentle or natural formula with soothing ingredients like aloe.
If you’re prone to getting bumps or rashes after shaving apply an aftershave gel post-shave, we like Shaveworks The Cool Fix because it’s soothing, cooling, and has glycolic acid to exfoliate the skin and prevent ingrowns.

If you’re looking for an easy and chic smoky eye that transitions well from day to night and from summer to fall then Philosophy Supernatural Eye Palettes have got you covered. Our favorite shade collection is Supernatural Eye Palettes Box of Truffles, featuring three perfect shades of silky mineral powders for lid, crease, and shimmer, plus a long-wearing wet-to-dry powder liner for line definition.
The perfect and classy eye requires four minutes. Follow our four easy steps for fool proof beauty:
1. Apply the lightest shade (Latte) all over your lid all the way up to the brow to create a smooth and even canvas.
2. Apply the next darkest shade (Mocha) all over the upper lid, and apply a bit to the lower lash line to give the eyes an almond shape.
3. With a blending brush apply Cocoa to the crease in a light sweeping motion, extending the crease just outside the eyelid and drawing a ‘V’ shape to connect with the bottom lid. Add just a bit of Cocoa to the outer corners of the lower lash line to intensify the look.
4. With a stiff liner brush use the darkest shade (Chocolate) to line the upper lash line, extending the tip into a wing for a touch of glamour.
If you want to take your sassy look into a sultry evening eye swap the Mocha shade for the Cocoa, a deeper brown all over the lid will add drama and elegance.

We all know that there is no such thing as a healthy tan. And instead of wasting our time soaking up the sun by the pool we’re doing more productive things, like trying out hundreds of different self tanners!
The new NUXE Soleil Prodigieux Self Tanning Body Lotion hit a sweet spot for us, because it’s not only a self tanner that gives a beautiful deep and rich brown tan (no orange!!!)) it also has SHIMMER!
