Understanding Stretch Marks

Published on by

Rodial Stretch MXStretch marks appear when the skin has been stretched to the point of breaking down. When the skin becomes weak and the support structure begins to separate, the result is grooved and discolored skin. Collagen is normally damaged at the dermis level and a scar or stretch mark is left behind. The skin will normally have a red or purplish color at first which over time will fade out to have a silver or white appearance. Common causes are pregnancy, rapid growth and/or hormones.

Over the counter products will help to reduce the appearance of stretch marks. They normally do not entirely go away. Stretch mark creams will help to fade the discoloration of the scar and some will help to stimulate collagen reproduction.

Consider These Products To Treat Stretch Marks:

- Belli Stretchmark Minimizing Cream

- Rodial Stretch MX

- StriVectin SD Intensive Concentrate for Stretch Marks and Wrinkles

Introducing Pomega5

Published on by

Pomega5Natural and hypoallergenic, the Pomega5 line is nature’s recipe for your skin. Pomega5 is a skin care line based around the pomegranate fruit and the essential fatty acid it produces through its seeds, Omega 5. This essential fatty acid is one of the most potent antioxidants known to modern science, almost six times more potent than Grape Seed Extract. Omega 5 is a high energy molecule that helps to calm inflammation, reduces aging free radicals, is easily absorbed into the skin and it is a plant-based estrogen (phytoestrogen). Phytoestrogen ingredients help to support hormonal imbalance in the skin which can lead to breakouts or dryness.

The healing oil from the pomegranates seeds can be found in every product within the Pomega5 line. Each product tries to incorporate at least one ingredient from the sea, soil, plants and flowers. Pomega5 is part of a lifelong mission from the creator to provide you with a brand that is safe, honest and authentic.

Top Three products from Pomega5:

- Pomega5 Healing Cream

- Pomega5 Grenade Anti Rides Nourishing Cream

- Pomega5 Daily Revitalizing Concentrate

What is a Standard Regimen?

Published on by

What is a Standard Regimen?A standard regimen consists of 4 steps, Cleanse, Tone, Moisturize and Protect (SPF). This standard regimen is to be done daily, twice a day except the SPF step which would just be applied in the morning, prior to sun exposure. Most people will go beyond the basics and add additional steps, exfoliation, masks, and treatments for both face and eyes. Exfoliation is to be done 1-3 times weekly and is applied between the tone and moisturize steps.

Masks are also to be applied 1-2 times weekly. Masks would be applied to cleansed skin then followed with a moisturizer after rinsing. An anti-aging treatment is normally applied 1-2 times daily and is also applied between the tone and moisturize steps. There are different treatments for both face and eyes. We normally recommend exfoliation be done at night and the anti-aging treatments to be applied twice daily. Masks can be applied either AM or PM. With all of these steps the correct way to apply the products would look like this:

AM                                        PM

Cleanse                                 Cleanse

Tone                                      Tone

(Mask)                                   Exfoliation

Anti-Aging treatment               (Mask)

Moisturize                              Anti-Aging Treatment

Protect (SPF)                         Moisturize

Give Your Lips Some Love

Published on by

LipsLips are one of the most common areas of our bodies that we tend to neglect. Lips do differ from the skin on other areas of our bodies and this means they need special attention. Lips are composed of very thin skin layers and do not contain any oil glands.

Lips are one of the most sun exposed parts of the body and are very vulnerable to dryness and damage. Since the lips do not contain any melanin, they do not have any natural UV filters. Make sure to get a lip treatment with a good SPF. The sun can also damage the collagen in lips, leaving them wrinkled and thin.

There are lip treatments available that contain beneficial exfoliants. Make sure to use a product specific for the lip area since lip tissue differs greatly from the skin on other areas of our bodies. Exfoliation can help to increase lip volume by plumping the skin and it can help with hydration by removing dead skin cell build up.

Our lips help define who we are. Be ready for all the attention you will receive with a new, improved, beautiful pout.

Lip Treatment with Sunscreen and Tint: Supergoop AcaiFusion SPF 30 Lip Balm – Sheer Pink

Lip Treatment with Sunscreen: Jane Iredale LipDrink SPF 15 Lip Balm

Don’t Forget About Your Neck

Published on by

Don't Forget About Your NeckMost of us are now diligently caring for our facial skin with the help of daily regimens…but what about the neck? Often we forget to treat our neck the same as we do our face. The skin on our necks is actually thinner and can show aging faster than our facial skin. You can use facial products on the neck, though there are treatments out there specifically for the issues of the neck; sagging skin, thinning skin, horizontal creasing and crepiness.

Why do our necks age faster? The muscles in the neck are not connected to any bone structure, and therefore the skin on your neck loses elasticity faster with age, making it more prone to wrinkles and sagging. The neck also has fewer sebaceous glands, making it more prone to dryness and premature aging. To help diminish and prevent the signs of turkey neck, make sure to treat, exfoliate and protect the neck area daily. It is recommended to use facial exfoliants on the neck area as body exfoliators can be too harsh. Don’t forget the sunscreen since this area needs daily protection just as much as the rest of your body!

When applying a cream or serum to your neck, it is very important that you apply in an upward motion. Always go in the opposite direction of gravity so you are not contributing to sagging.

A Few Recommendations:

- Dr. Brandt Time Arrest V Zone Neck Cream

- StriVectin-TL Tightening Neck Cream

- Rodial Chin and Neck Lift

Understanding Cellulite

Published on by

Understanding CelluliteOne of the most dreaded body issues is cellulite, and the difficulty to banish it. Cellulite can create unsightly dimpling that usually forms on the upper part of the legs. It is caused by irregular fatty deposits below the skin’s surface. Unfortunately cellulite can affect anyone; it does not discriminate by age or by weight. Cellulite has more to do with the composition of fat cells, our level of collagen and the surrounding tissues.

There are several known treatments for cellulite. One of the most common ingredients used in topical products is caffeine, which helps to stimulate the skin, increasing blood flow and reducing the fatty deposits. When applying a cellulite treatment, such as Bliss Fat Girl Slim, be sure to massage it into the skin for 30 seconds to a few minutes. This will stimulate blood flow in the area and promote even more circulation. Another form of treatment is Endermologie which uses rollers to help stretch out the fibrous bands of tissues and helps to release localized fat cells. For this form of treatment, take a look at the Wellbox Machine.

Photo Light Therapy

Published on by

Tanda Clear Plus Professional Acne Clearing DevicePhoto therapy, is an application of light in specific wavelengths, red and blue. This type of therapy has been proven effective in treating Acne, Psoriasis, Eczema, wound healing, and aging. There is also no down time when using light therapy devices.

When treating acne, blue light therapy waves are absorbed into the skin and the P.acne bacteria absorbs the rays causing them to self-destruct. Once the acne causing bacteria is removed, inflammation and pustules clear up.

Red photo light therapy penetrates deeper into the skin and stimulates collagen to create new, healthier cells. In addition, red light therapy also slows down inflammation, what some dermatologists think causes wrinkling of the skin.

Why is Vitamin A so Important in My Skin Care Regimen?

Published on by

SkinCeuticals Retinol 1.0Vitamin A (also known as retinol, Retin-A, renova, retinyl palmitate, tretinoin, ETC) is not only an excellent antioxidant, it is also cell-communicating (talks to your skin cells). When an antioxidant is cell-communicating, such as Vitamin A, it means that it helps your cells create healthier skin cells and increase the amount of support tissues like collagen and/or elastin. The body lacks the ability to produce Vitamin A, so it is important to gain Vitamin A through foods and skin care products. Vitamin A products are most recommended to individuals that have damaged skin. It is very important to make sure that Vitamin A is packaged correctly; otherwise, the product could be no good. The product should be in a closed, dark colored container. If sunlight penetrates the product it can promote problems with its efficacy. When using Vitamin A based products it is very important that you use a sunscreen daily. When using exfoliating products it makes your skin more susceptible to sun damage. Also, the sun depletes the skin of Vitamin A, which can cause sunbathers to age faster.

Some people will experience irritation from using Vitamin A products for the first time, which is completely normal. To make the best experience, start out using a Vitamin A based product 1 to 2 times weekly and gradually work your way up to 5 to 7 days a week.

Here are a few recommendations of Vitamin A based products:

- SkinCeuticals Retinol 1.0

- Topix Replenix All Trans Retinol Smoothing Serum 3X

- SkinMedica Tri-Retinol Complex ES

T3 Source Shower Filters

Published on by

T3 is a well-known and trusted brand in the industry for producing high quality styling tools which improve the condition of your hair, and help you to look your best. T3 uses tourmaline which is a gemstone that naturally produces negative ions to smooth and condition the hair follicle. This same technology is used in T3’s new line of beauty showerheads. The new beauty showerheads are the first shower filters that are clinically proven to improve the health of your hair while adding body and shine.  They have a patented filtration technology that removes up to 95% of chlorine and other impurities in the water to condition and protect your hair and skin. This filtration is ideal for color-treated hair and extensions.

The T3 filters come in three different convenient options: The hand-held which attaches to the shower for mobility and ease, the source showerhead, and the inline which can attach to any existing shower head; as one-size-fits-all design for easy use. Anyone who washes their hair will benefit from using the source showerhead or hand-held source showerhead because chlorine and frequent washing will strip and damage your hair. The beauty shower actually transforms the chlorine by combining copper, zinc, and calcium into a larger element that the hair can’t absorb.  The results have been amazing at reducing frizz by 64%, an increase in body by 47%, and a 28% increase in shine.

Aside from being a cutting edge hair tool, the rainfall of the shower is soothing and relaxing to the body and great for your skin.  The T3 source shower filter showerhead has 8 different spray settings for a customized shower. It is recommended to change the filter about every 3-6 months for optimal results depending on which shower you decide to go with.  The indicator light will indicate when you need to change the filter and are easily replaced. All three beauty showers come with a 2 year warranty and repair options for customers.
